The ‘riches’ are like vapour, in the vastness of the desert
Mistake it not for water, no, count it not a treasure
Let it be as you walk through the valley of distinction
Seek not its solace if you’re striving for redemption
Let it not entice your being, creep into your heart
It’ll spread within your head and tear you apart
Grant it not your sight, it’ll lead you astray
At the end of the day!

Let us burn away this veil
And behold the higher realm
Let us break free from this jail
And embrace the higher-self
Are you ready now?

I have tried to quench my thirst, with the waters of the sea
But this did not bring me what I was for in need
I neglected the dewdrops, kept the curtains closed
Enlightenment was near, but the darkness I chose  
I had a chain around my leg, I kept myself from floating
Infernal smoke was in my lungs, my spirit was choking
I sat stubbornly by the faint light of the lamp
While the sun stood high!

Until one day, I let myself go and opened the window  
One day, I stopped to bewail and took a sip from the grail
One day, I realized, I realized
That this day will never be followed by the night
