Bob’s on his way, drifting in the train
He takes his last sip of coffee, lifting up his brain
As the train gets nearer, his shoes get heavy
He puts his face in his pocket, because he’s got to be merry
As he steps into the crowd, his heart rate mounts
He lights a cigarette, and hides behind the clouds
Even though the light is red, Bob crosses anyway
He doesn’t see the bus, someone yells “hey!”
He barely survives and sighs to his saviour
Kicks an empty can, and spits on the pavement
Lifts up his head, smiles away the stress
Nine o clock sharp, he sits at his desk
It is the beginning of another week spinning
A life long game, and Bob is not a winner
He’s looking forward to the night, a little glass filled
The absence of thought and his sleeping pills
It is time to turn the lights down
It is time to turn the lights down
It’s now time to sleep
After a long day of analysing multitudes
He walks into the safety of his home of solitude
He takes off his shoes, and greets the cat
Even though for seven years the pet has been dead…
He pops a big bottle, of hard liquor scotch
And turns on the TV, but there’s nothing to watch
Commercials, commercials, he becomes annoyed
He turns off the TV and falls into the void
Unwanted thoughts unlawful overtake him
He gets up and feels his limbs are shaking
Dizzy as he is he wanders off to bed
He takes his pillow for his cat, and pats her on the head
It is the beginning of another night spinning
But this time maybe, Bob will be the winner
He pours a glass of water, stands up and yells:
“No I won’t! I don’t need those sleeping pills!”
It is time to turn the lights down
It’s now time to sleep
